Alternative Therapies for Depression and Anxiety
Anxiety and Depression Alternative Therapies If you or a loved one suffers from the life-damaging consequences of depression, or the disabling symptoms of uncontrolled anxiety, there is good news. There is a host of anxiety and depression alternative therapies available to you the sufferer to remedy your condition. We hope you find the answers you seek. We will rejoice with you as you begin a new and empowered life free of pain and suffering. You are a special person and have much talent to share with this world, and we want you to find your place of happiness. As we consider alternative therapy, we must look at the broad range of causes, which these alternative therapies will address. While the causes may be psychological in origin, over time, imbalances in brain chemistry can develop, which may respond to medical treatment as well. The best course of action is to begin at the simplest level and graduate the treatments to those more complex. The reason for this is practicality. Alternative therapies you can administer yourself are least expensive, and your response history will lead you to the more complex treatments later if you need them. Anxiety and depression alternative therapies may be just the place for you to find your answer. The best approach is to look at the big picture first. Are you presently satisfied with you emotional life? By that, we mean are you presently married or have an emotionally sound support structure currently in place? If your depression is present and you have a nurturing marriage, or deep understanding friendships instead, and you also had a wholesome childhood, then that would point to a medical need rather than an emotional issue as the root cause. There are alternative therapies, which will address medical, emotional, and spiritual deficiencies, where your trouble may have started. If however, you had a bad childhood or have some unresolved issues anytime in your life, then that could be the original cause as well. While talking with your self and later talking with friends may bring much progress, there may still be medical causation involved. The reason for this is, those in deep anxiety and suffering in depression tend to neglect their life nutritionally, and in the general matters of their health. Start right now by preparing yourself a nice drink of ice water if it is hot where you are at, or some hot cocoa if it is winter, and stay well hydrated. Pamper yourself now before you read any further! Over time, the neglect on the body will itself cause lack of stamina and vitality contributing to the condition of lack of well-being. You will fortunately, feel better very soon after you make the corrective measures. Looking at your personal health profile is always a good place to start no matter what else is involved, as it is a good emotional boost to pamper your self occasionally with some nurturing, selfish, me-time. You deserve that very much. By the way, here we define ‘selfish,’ ‘self-centered and self-worship’ as good things and it means ‘giving to our selves those things we deserve to have.’ ‘Selfish,’ never means ‘greedy’ or ‘violating others boundaries by stealing what belongs to others,’ because we should be too busy seeking our good God wants us to find to take any good that belongs to someone else. Anything we could steal from others would be like stealing another’s pair of shoes. Those shoes meant for another would not fit us as comfortably as those shoes God meant for us. Thusly selfishness actually causes boundary respect and generosity, not theft and boundary violation! In our personal world we should come first, this is as it should be, and it is good and Godly. The place to begin is to have a good talk with your self. The myth and the lie is that ‘self-talk is bad and it is for crazy people’ is false, and is actually contrary to sound mental health. We talk to ourselves all the time and self-talk is part of normal healthy mental activity. By talking to ourselves while awake, our subconscious mind communicates to our conscious mind as we let our thoughts wander. As you will do this, two things will emerge. The first is you will develop and idea of where to begin in your quest for answers to your emotional condition. Some ideas will jump into your head regarding things you suffered as a child, or needing to get more sleep, exercise or more friendship. These initial ideas for alternative therapy are good places to begin. Follow up on them. As you start to implement these changes and look for answers, more interaction will follow. In this case, we do not want to look outside ourselves for inspiration as to our problem; we want to look to within. The second thing that will emerge is you will show a preference for one form of therapy over another. This is not bad, and is very helpful. Those things you have a preference for are the things most likely to work, simply because you think they might work. If you are interested in Yoga and you want to apply its teachings and practice to your depression or anxiety problem, then do it! We subconsciously gravitate to those things in life that we need on a spiritual and subconscious level, if we tune to it with positive self-talk.
