Overcoming Depression A New Perspective

Thanks for joining us; here we will share our insights on overcoming depression. In addition, we wish to give you some encouragement from the deepest part of our hearts to yours. When you leave this page, you will have a foundational understanding on what it takes for victory with any emotional pain. Yes, you or your loved one will have a new direction in which to search, you can do it, and we can help. The first step of defeating anything is to understand it first, for then we can create a plan.

We will call this Overcoming Depression 101 A General Overview

For this moment, let us sit down together for a high-level executive’s meeting. Let us go into a finely appointed meeting room with leather chairs and sit at a large, ornately carved oaken table. Close the door on the boardroom of your Soul, so that we will not be disturbed. Take a deep breath, close your eyes for a moment, and clear your mind of whatever thought activity has been running in your mental desktop all day long. That is very important. The doors to the outside activity are closed, and we have posted the ‘do not disturb’ sign in the hall. Now we can begin.

Introduction The Soul’s Road and the Face of God

You are a sojourner, a cosmic time traveler, with your own Soul’s business. That business happens to be to grow, to learn, and by doing that to serve. Ironically enough, overcoming the depression, anxiety or other emotional distress you or your loved one is facing is part of that Soul’s business, and although bad initially, it has a good purpose. God wants you to learn how to overcome your emotional obstacles. He did not give them to you as punishment, but to teach you how to overcome them. Punishment is not the intent, overcoming them is. Depression is not the focus, the overcoming skills are.

Your life is a road, that part in front of you is potentiality and promise, and that part behind you is wisdom, experience, and memories. The person waiting at the end of your road is God, which has your face. However, the end never comes and that is why you can never see the face of God. However, God is there and his or her face is your face, as full, complete, and enthused as you can be! The things you experience on the road will be reflections of things inside you, the good things are soul lessons achieved, and are eternal rewards to enjoy. The uncomfortable things are about overcoming them to learn something about you. Commit that thought to memory.

Overview of Us Our Duality

We as humans exist in two dimensions, not just one; the first is the Physical. We live in this dimension with our mind using our reasoning and cognitive powers. This Physical or lower dimension is where we attend to the normal activity of our work, sleep, and day to day matters of living. We also attend to the basic matters relevant to raising our family, matters of citizenship, and obligations to employment and community. We carry out all of this by observing, figuring out obstacles, and making choices in our best interest as a citizen. All of us address our needs in about the same way, meaning there is nothing we do at the physical level that differentiates our uniqueness from others. We overcome in the physical by reasoning and hard work.

So far, all is good. If we used just our mind to gain happiness, then being smart would be all that is necessary and life would be fine. We could figure out any of our world’s obstacles with our intellect and understand our way to happiness. However, there is just one problem: There is a realm where we also exist where our intellect is useless, and our knowledge will get us nowhere. If we look at this area with our mind, we see nothing but blackness and fog. To overcome obstacles here we will need a weapon far more powerful than the brightest mind or the eyesight of any eagle!

This mysterious second level is the realm of the Spiritual. Moreover, it is in the disconnection from us living fully in our spiritual level where the manifestation of depression begins.

Since we live in both of these levels all the time, we need separate sources of vision to interact in both environments. One source of vision on one level will be useless in the other. We have two sources of vision, although you may not be aware of it!

We must use two separate visions simultaneously to be fully human; our eyes and reasoning are for the physical, and our heart and its yearnings are for the spiritual. The mind is blind in the spiritual, and the heart does not understand the physical. Our eyes, for the mind, see the present through logic, and learn from the past with our intellect. Our eyes are passive and all they do is observe.

Unlike the eyes, our heart can see through the deepest fog of tomorrow with ease! Our heart sees clearly into the future and leads us into what we can be. It sees beyond time into timelessness and into a place where there is neither space nor location. There is another unique power our heart has as well, for it is an active tool. Unlike our eyes, our heart is an emotional antennae and radio, and can transmit and communicate to both people and events in our future. It does so all the time, whether we know it or not! Our heart is the connection to all that is possible for us, our dreams, our talents, and all the good we can do, and the fulfillment we are to experience. Not only does it make us aware and guide us, it also creates our future before we get there, as well! Our heart has all the energy to bring our higher level of life to fruition, as we should be. Our heart brings us to completion in what our hard work in the physical only starts. The sum total of who and what we are is the lessons we have learned, as wisdom, and what obstacles we have overcome in both realms.

If all that is true and I have these wonderful powers, then why do I have depression?

We will get to that right now, and it all connects together, problem to answer, we promise!

What shuts down our heart, the most powerful tool we have for building our lives?

Disappointment

Disappointment breaks our appointments with destiny, which we were supposed to have.

That is what you feel, which are those lost chances for happiness. When Life sends you unmet needs and growth achievements in which no one applauded you on as you grew up, you chose to quit feeling your emotions and your yearnings. When you become too disappointed, you use your mind more and your heart less. Depression is not about feeling sad; it is the emptiness of feeling no emotionality at all. To the mind, it feels like sadness, but it is emotional emptiness. Unfortunately, that is where most people stop, and that may be where you are right now. However, there is one last chapter in this story, and it is good news and can make a happy conclusion. The last part is the overcoming part: it may be hard work, but the ending is one of your strength and growth, and something to share with those behind you. You were put into this combat to earn your Congressional Medal of Honor in Wisdom, if you choose to do so.

The magical secret of overcoming disappointment

Opportunity is a facet of God, and as is any facet of God, you cannot kill it or lose it. Opportunity will redefine and reinvent itself with every loss. Like a hole that keeps getting bigger as you take more from it, so too does God’s love and His Will for your happiness and fulfillment grow. What you missed earlier in life is still out there for you to discover in another form, just as magical and enchanting as before! If you missed being popular in school, and wanted to go out on dates, there is a setting today where you can find all the friends you need and be popular somewhere. No, not in bars chasing good times, we are talking about the real thing with genuine friends in a permanent life for you! How do we find it? That is where we learn to use the vision and broadcasting ability of our heart, to guide us back to it. When it comes to overcoming depression, or any obstacle in life, our heart is the definite weapon of choice!

What we learned to do to survive and keep us from being sad as children, we need to unlearn to let us grow as adults. Start experiencing your emotions and get back into all your emotionality. This may be painful at first, but when we revisit our unmet needs from youth, and our yearnings from childhood, we will start our heart working again. Our happiness and the cure for our depression are in our higher dimension. Our higher dimension is emotionality and controlled by the yearning heart. Our heart is what we call in Higher Psychology our Wonder Child, or Our Authentic Self. All these terms and more we will share later describe our Godly Birthright to overcome things greater than ourselves through faith.

You probably know how to use the vision through your eyes very well. You probably know the value of hard work and due diligence in making your material and financial future. Now we will learn how to use the vision from our heart to see, and yes make our emotional future, which is the part that is missing.

Did you notice the brief reference at the top of this page to having a meeting in a boardroom in a big company, and sharing of critical information behind closed doors between important people in upper management? Why did we do that? We wanted to reacquaint you with the processes of imagining and pretending. For many of us, we abandoned those mental activities years ago, believing them to be just the useless activities of children to pass their time in play.

Overcoming depression involves reactivating your heart, and using your heart, that means imagining and pretending. Do not worry about what or how the next steps are; just practice this first step for a while. Just know that imagining and pretending are not running from reality in denial, because you will soon be using these skills to lead you to the reality you should have been creating all along. We will have much more on that later, we promise. We will use envisioning or pretending, and imagining, as a way of looking over the horizon much like a child uses it to find Easter eggs at an Easter egg hunt. The child believes there are eggs there, when they are. Denial is pretending everything is okay now and we are happy when in fact we are not. We are not pretending we are happy now, we will be pretending we can be happy in the future, because that pretending, or envisioning, will lead us to those resources and friendships which can happen which will make us complete.

For the time being, just imagine that you have finally put your finger on exactly what it is that has been bothering you for so long. Be open to the thought that you now have new insight into overcoming your long-term depression, or facing your chronic anxiety. You do not need to know what that answer is just yet, just wonder what it would be like to find it. These are what we call ‘seed thoughts,’ and your heart needs them planted for its magic to go to work. You may feel reluctant to do this because you want to see the full answer in all its completeness, before you can believe it. That is your mental eyes and reasoning trying to take over, again! Remember in the spiritual realm your eyes will not work. You do not need to ‘understand’ the answer to find it, you cannot ‘understand’ you way to wholeness. Focus on this idea and meditate on this concept until it becomes comfortable enough to wear as emotional clothing.

Imagining and pretending are skill level one functions of your heart’s vision. The dark veil of The Uncooperative Present is cloaking you from seeing your fullness and happiness, which you can reach, if you know which direction to go. Your answers are closer that you think!

We share the complete treatise on this subject in our first in series book Overcoming Depression from Emotional Abuse/The Tools of Your Mind. In this book, we talk about the whole overview of our soul’s journey as we follow our heart’s dreams to our ultimate destiny. We answer many questions about selfishness, prosperity, psychotherapy, and finding our dreams and happiness. We talk much about our boundaries. We also talk about the spiritual controls we have within to bring our good to us. Those controls are our Sincerity Switch, Spontaneity Switch, and lastly our Feelings and Dreams Switch.

To add more on our spiritual vision, we would like to introduce you to an exciting young woman whose websites are Beat Depression Naturally and Graceful Changes.

Her name is Laura Frisbie and her expertise is in the alternative therapy side of treatment. Laura is a certified Resonance Repatterning practitioner since 2000, and holds a Master of Education Degree as well. In the past we have taken a dim view of some therapists with college educations as being above their clients, you will get no such criticisms from us about Laura! Her compassion for her clients and her desire to encourage are Laura’s strong points. Laura has what we call in our profession ‘enthusiasm over the subject.’

Someone can earn a college degree, but very few have the passion that Laura does. If you do not have the enthusiasm, Harvard or Yale cannot give it to you. Spiritual energy and compassion are subjective and cannot be measured, they also cannot be faked either. What she has worked hard to develop as a gift she wishes to share with others to liberate them from their emotional bondage. Laura brings an impressive inventory of wisdom and insight to share. You will be in very qualified hands when you visit her two excellent sites!

We are honored to know and to present Laura Frisbie M. Ed. to you here.
